Petty Officer 3rd Class Blydenburg served aboard the U.S.S Owesco, a weather ship, with the Weather Patrol, Search and Rescue. John was stationed principally in the North Atlantic Ocean and off Long Island Sound. He received the Good Conduct Medal.
