Joseph Hall was called into service and trained at Camp Upton with the 152nd Depot Brigade. AFter transferring to Camp Devens, MA, Joseph served in the 76th Division, Battery E, 301st Field Artillery. He continued his training in the French Artillery Training Camp ( Camp de Bouge) in the southern part of France.
