1st Lieutenant Raven enlisted in the 7th Infantry Regiment, NY and did service on the mexican border. The regiment became the 107th Infantry, U.S.A., 27th Division when taken into federal service. Richard was in command of Company E, 107th Infantry when he was killed at La Raux Farm, near St. Souplet, France on Oct 18, 1918.
