Lieutenant Isbrandtsen graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and served aboard the U.S.S. Fechtler, DDR- 870 of the US Navy. Henning was stationed in Korea, China, and in Japan. He is merited with the Armed Forces Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
